THE SWEETEST PLACE ON EARTH

INTRO: A preacher heard a famous preacher start a sermon, "Some of the best days of my life where spent in the arms of another woman!" The
crowd hung in suspense. Finally he continued, "The arms of my mother." The crowd was relieved.
The listening preacher thought, that was a powerful introduction. Deciding to try it himself the next Sunday with his own congregation, he began, "People I want you to know something. Some of the best days of my life were spent in the arms of another woman." The congregation gasped. Everyone stared toward the Pastor’s wife. Seeing this, he was shaken a bit. Trying to remember what to say next,
he finally blurted, "But for the life of me, I can’t remember who she was!"
In the arms of our mother is one of the sweetest places on earth. The great thing about this is that a Mother always wants to be close by to hold her children, especially when they are hurting. Think of Jesus in his greatest moment of pain…where was his mother. At the foot of the cross, doubtless with her arms yearning to hold him.
TEXT: John 19:25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.26 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” 27 Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from
that hour that disciple took her to his own home.(NKJV)
TRANSITION: Yes, in the arms of our mother is one of the sweetest places on earth.
