Grace House Update from Pastor Eddie
Think About It...
"We miss God when we live as though we have Him figured out. We have the habit of making Him look like us. In fact, if we think we understand Him we have probably conformed Him into our image."
- Bill Johnson, When Heaven Invades Earth
This Sunday:
A Steadfast Continuing....
At the end of Acts 2, Luke gives us a summary statement of life in the early church. He says "they continued steadfastly..." What are some of the things that we need to continue steadfastly in? I look forward to digging into this with you on Sunday. God's Word provides so much guidance for us in all areas of our lives. Come and bring a friend.
Life Groups Expo -
After Sunday Service
This Sunday immediately following the service, you will have the opportunity to meet with our life group leaders at their tables set up in the commons area. You will be able to see what groups are being offered, ask questions of the leaders, and even sign up for a group. This will be a great opportunity for you to become more aware of how you can be more relationally connected with others. The leaders will also be sharing briefly in the service to whet your appetite. We are so excited about all that is happening in our groups.
Shoals Sav-A-Life Banquet:
Everything to Me, Tues. Oct 1, 2013
We love and support Shoals Sav-A-Life. So many girls and babies are touched by the love of God through this incredible ministry in our area. Well known award-winning artist and Dove Award nominee, Mark Schultz will be ministering in concert at the upcoming banquet. Your purchase of a ticket and your presence at the event is a great way to individually bless this ministry as well as receive a blessing. Contact Jane Faith Zeff for more information or simply visit their website at this link: SHOALS SAV-A-LIFE
MISSIONS - GOD'S HEART FOR OTHERS
We are so grateful for the huge heart that our Grace House people have for missions. I appreciate all that you do to help support missions. Your going, giving, and praying really does make a difference.
THE SMITHS - Welcome back Ross and Lisa Smith from South Africa. We appreciate what Ross, Shirley, and Lisa mean to us and the Kingdom. They have been faithful to God's call to bring transformation and change to others and are making a wonderful difference in South Africa.
SARAH AND JEANETTE - Sara Davis and Jeanette Lerch will be leaving this coming week to minister in Honduras. They will be part of a medical team that will minister the love of Jesus in the mountains of Honduras. We will be helping them by bringing clothes, shoes, and other articles for them to distribute to these people in great need.
THE RICKETTS - Jason and Sarah Ricketts have departed for a couple of weeks for India on a ministry trip. They will be in the Northeastern part of the country and will minister to the least, lost, and lonely in India. This couple has such a heart for children around the world.
Please continue to pray for these three specific needs and consider blessing them as well. We are grateful to be a part of what God is doing on the mission field through these who are willing to go.
Our Next Grace House Mission Trip -- Looks like late January.
Please be praying for the development of our next mission trip. This team will purposely be a very small team due to the travel schedule and arrangements and assignment.
About nine years ago the Lord really touched me deeply concerning the island nations. Since that time, I have had the opportunity to see the Lord do some amazing things in the Caribbean. We had an awesome time in Trinidad last year and this past April we saw God do a mighty work in Carriacou and Petite Martinque. It looks as if our next trip will be to Barbados with the possibility of island jumping to revisit Trinidad and Carriacou.
There is no doubt that developing a missions heart is one of the greatest things a congregation can do.
Hook Up With A Life Group!
We are so grateful for the togetherness that our life groups are enjoying.
Our Life Groups Ministry is touching lives. I rejoice to hear about how our groups are praying for one another, ministering the Word to one another, going places together, building deep relationships. This is an important part of the family life of belonging to a local congregation.
If you have questions about being in a group or leading a group, just get with Hillard and Charlotte Matthews who lead our Life Groups ministry.
You are now able to view all the options on our new Life Groups website at LIFEGROUPS.INFO

Have A Laugh....
A woman walked up to a little old man rocking in a chair on his porch. "I couldn't help noticing how happy you look," she said. "What's your secret for a long happy life?"
"I smoke three packs of cigarettes a day," he said. "I also drink a case of whiskey a week, eat fatty foods, and never exercise."
"That's amazing," said the woman, "how old are you?"
"Twenty-six," he said.
(This is a funny that isn't; but, it does make you think.)
